主講人及簡(jiǎn)介：Shusheng Pang（龐樹(shù)聲），教授,，新西蘭工程院院士,、國(guó)際木材科學(xué)院院士,。1994年獲新西蘭坎特伯雷大學(xué)化學(xué)工程博士學(xué)位,，隨后在新西蘭林業(yè)研究院從事木材加工與相關(guān)產(chǎn)品研究。2002年起任職于新西蘭坎特伯雷大學(xué),，現(xiàn)任該?；瘜W(xué)工程與工藝系教授、木材技術(shù)研究中心主任，2011年被接納為新西蘭工程院院士和國(guó)際木材科學(xué)院院士,。此外,，龐樹(shù)聲教授還是三個(gè)國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)期刊（Energies, Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, and Maderas. Ciencia y Tecnología）的編委。龐樹(shù)聲教授在多個(gè)國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)機(jī)構(gòu)中兼職,，其中包括國(guó)際干燥指導(dǎo)委員會(huì),，國(guó)際能源署生物氣化分委員會(huì)，澳大利亞-新西蘭燃燒執(zhí)行委員會(huì)等,。2017年龐樹(shù)聲教授組織和主持了在新西蘭舉行的第六屆生物煉制國(guó)際會(huì)議,，并應(yīng)邀在10多個(gè)國(guó)際會(huì)議上發(fā)表主題演講。龐樹(shù)聲教授本人長(zhǎng)期致力于生物質(zhì)利用和木材加工技術(shù)的開(kāi)發(fā)與研究,，研究領(lǐng)域包括：生物質(zhì)能源，生物質(zhì)的熱化學(xué)轉(zhuǎn)化技術(shù),、新的木塑復(fù)合材料,，生物高分子材料、廢舊塑料再應(yīng)用和木材干燥與加工技術(shù),。在過(guò)去20年里,，先后承擔(dān)和領(lǐng)導(dǎo)了新西蘭國(guó)家(FRST/MBIE)基金資助重大項(xiàng)目三項(xiàng)，并在以上領(lǐng)域提出了一些新的理論和開(kāi)發(fā)了新的加工技術(shù),。他在以上領(lǐng)域國(guó)際領(lǐng)先學(xué)術(shù)期刊發(fā)表了160多篇論文,。參與編寫(xiě)了5本專(zhuān)著包括他主編剛出版的“Drying of biomass, bio-solids and coal”。截止目前,，文章被引用四千二百多次,，論文的Google h-index為32。
報(bào)告摘要：Heavily use of fossil fuel in the world has caused serious concerns on future energy supply and negative impact on environment. Biomass, originated from plants and trees, is a promising energy source, particularly for liquid and gaseous fuels, as it is renewable and carbon neutral. However, there are challenges in converting the biomass to energy and fuels which may include: high process costs, low conversion efficiency, and negative impact on environment. This seminar presents recent advances in research and development of thermochemical conversion technologies of biomass with focus on biomass gasification, pyrolysis and liquid fuel synthesis. Research programmes at University of Canterbury, New Zealand, will be discussed and selected international projects will be introduced. In addition, brief introduction will be given on New Zealand and University of Canterbury.
